The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) and the Panamanian Association of Congress and Related Organizers (APPCE) confirmed that Panama will host the 36th Congress of the Federation of Organizers of Congresses and Allies of Latin America (COCAL), from 12 to March 15, 2019, at the Megapolis Convention Center, under the slogan «Integrating the Value Chain from the Hub of the Americas.»
The announcement was made in the city of Asunción, Paraguay, during an official launch cocktail of the event within the framework of COCAL 2018, where the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) of the ATP and APPCE promoted Panama as the number one destination for congresses and conventions.
This meeting expects to bring together 500 professionals from the meetings and business events industry throughout Latin America, between members and buyers, who will have the opportunity to know all the potential that the country offers for the realization of congresses and conventions and at the same time the main ones tourist attractions of the country.
The first congress of this federation was held in the city of Lima, Peru, in 1980, and subsequently, until August 1984, the second congress was held in Medellin, Colombia. Since then, it has been rotated among Latin American countries, generating not only a space for training and exchange of knowledge and experiences, but a platform to promote fate and networking.
COCAL 2019 is already promoted in digital media highlighting the advantages offered by Panama in air connectivity, hotel infrastructure, strategic geographical position, gastronomy, beaches, nature and large shopping centers; as well as ideal places for the realization of all kinds of world-class events, such as the ATLAPA Convention Center and soon the AMADOR Convention Center, the largest in the region with capacity for 25 thousand people.

El anuncio se realizó en la ciudad de Asunción, Paraguay, durante un coctel de lanzamiento oficial del evento en el marco de COCAL 2018, donde el Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) de la ATP y APPCE promocionaron a Panamá como destino número uno para congresos y convenciones.
Este encuentro espera reunir a 500 profesionales de la industria de reuniones y eventos de negocios de todo Latinoamérica, entre miembros y compradores, que tendrán la oportunidad de conocer todo el potencial que ofrece el país para la realización de congresos y convenciones y a la vez los principales atractivos turísticos del país.
El primer congreso de esta federación se celebró en la ciudad de Lima, Perú, en 1980, y posteriormente, hasta agosto de 1984 tuvo lugar el segundo congreso en Medellín, Colombia. Desde entonces se rota entre países de América Latina, generando no solo un espacio de capacitación e intercambio de conocimientos y experiencias, sino una plataforma de promoción del destino y networking.
COCAL 2019 se promociona desde ya en medios digitales destacando las ventajas que ofrece Panamá en conectividad aérea, infraestructura hotelera, estratégica posición geográfica, gastronomía, playas, naturaleza y grandes centros comerciales; así como lugares ideales para la realización de todo tipo de eventos de categoría mundial, como el Centro de Convenciones ATLAPA y pronto el Centro de Convenciones AMADOR, el más grande de la región con capacidad para 25 mil personas.
